Hi. I’m the dad behind I Crave Anime.

That’s not a bit — it’s the whole premise. I watch anime the way most adults with kids do: after bedtime, one or two episodes at a time, with the volume low enough not to wake anyone. I’ve been watching since long before I had kids, and somewhere along the way I noticed that most anime sites are written for people with infinite free time. This one isn’t. Every review, ranking, and watch order here is written for someone who has maybe an hour a night and doesn’t want to waste it on a show that falls apart in week four.

What you’ll find here

Reviews and rankings, scored in ramen bowls out of five. The bowls are a vibe check, not a spreadsheet. A 5-bowl show is something I’d rewatch instead of starting something new. A 3-bowl show is worth your evening. Anything lower, I’ll tell you exactly why.

Watch order guides for the franchises that punish newcomers — One Piece, Naruto, Fate, Monogatari, JoJo, and the rest. These are hand-built and hand-maintained. When a new season drops or a streaming home changes, the guide gets updated, and when I get something wrong, I correct it in the post instead of quietly deleting it. You’ll see “Updated” notes in older articles for exactly this reason.

Seasonal guides for what’s actually worth watching right now, without the hype inflation.

How the Now Slurping board works

The ranking board on the homepage is the one part of this site a human doesn’t write. It pulls live trending data from AniList every week — real numbers from what people are actually watching and rating — and maps the scores to bowl ratings automatically. That’s why it can disagree with my personal takes, and honestly, that’s the point. The board tells you what the community is watching. The posts tell you what I think about it.

What I’m not

I’m not a journalist, a critic with credentials, or an industry insider. I don’t get screeners, I don’t do junkets, and nobody sends me review copies. I’m a fan who watches the shows, takes notes like a weirdo, and writes it up. If a claim in a post can’t be traced to an official announcement, I’ll say so plainly — you’ll find “not confirmed yet” in my news posts more often than you’ll find speculation dressed up as fact.

How the site pays for itself

Some links here are affiliate links — mostly Amazon and eBay links to manga, Blu-rays, and merch. If you buy something through one of them, the site earns a small commission at no extra cost to you. That’s the entire business model. It has zero influence on scores or rankings: nobody is paying for placement, and no bowl rating has ever moved because of a link. If I recommend a box set, it’s because I’d buy it (or already did).

Say hi

The best way to use this site is to start with whatever you’re craving: a watch order, a full review, or this season’s rankings. If you’re brand new to anime entirely, the Start Here page was written for you.

Pull up a chair. The broth’s still hot. 🍜
